Immersed Tube

        An immersed tube tunnel is a kind of underwater tunnel composed of segments, constructed elsewhere and floated to the tunnel site to be sunk into place and then linked together. They are commonly used for road and rail crossings of rivers, estuaries and sea channels.

        Prof. Bai's team has been carrying out intensive researches on immersed tube tunnel: long-term settlement of immersed tube tunnel in soft soil, infrared monitoring to joint leakage, joint analysis and innovation, construction information consultant, etc. In recent years, several immersed tube tunnels are built or under construction in China. Our team participated in research projects of Shanghai Outer Ring Tunnel and HZMB Tunnel, and obtained fruitful achievements and experience.
